cat converter

if you gut the cat on a stock 95 lt-1 does it help on hp at all and will it make a code come up.will it make the exhaust a little louder

It might give 2 or 3 hp and the exhaust is a bit louder but It's not a nice loud. I had to gut mine when I cut off my stock exhaust because the sawzall shook the catalyst to pieces. When the engines running at about 1500-2000rpm going up a hill the noise from the gutted cat sounds horrible.

Let me know how much of a difference if you decide to do it id like to get rid of mine but due to the smog ****'s here in CALI with thier rolling smog stations like a dui checkpoint want to know if its even worth it

Not sure how your emissions laws are there but if you have to go, chances are you will NOT pass since any OBD I car gets hooked up to the sniffer.

i had a 93 Z28 once and gutted the cat and it sounded like crap. So bad that i spent the money and bought a high flow cat.

Same here. Actually... I did it on my old 92 Z28 and it sounded like crap. I'm about to attempt it again though. I just finished an LE2 383 install in my T/A... the cat is now off. I'm waiting on a new opti at the moment, so I haven't put it on the road yet. I'm hoping it sounds ok... if not... I've still got one credit card that isn't maxed.
