castrol syntec question..

i'm switching to castrol syntec in my car and just wanted to know if there is any real difference between the american version and the german one? i remember reading to pick up the german kind, however when i bought a case today that had slipped my mind until i got home. the one i bought is the american. dont figure its going to make that much difference, just wanted to know what the reasoning was for buying the german version. thanks

Re: castrol syntec question..

Your thinking of the Mobil1 0-30wt made in Germany.
FWIW, I do like the Castrol Syntec 5-50wt.

No, he's thinking of the Castrol Synthetic made in Germany, which is leaps and bounds better then the American formula. It's also neon green.

Spinner's right, it is the Castrol. Didn't know it was neon green (the bottle right?), should be easy to spot.

I recently started using Mobil 1 and because of information found at this group I will be purchasing it in the 5-quart container at Walmart, $20.02. The Castrol Synthetic sounds interesting. How do these brands compare with each other?

No, the motor oil itself is neon green. Neat to look at, for sure.

No, as far as I know and have found Autozone is the only one that carries the German made one.

Re: castrol syntec question..

I'll stick with my 10W30 Mobil-1 based on results I've seen online. I'm sure the Castrol is good stuff too. (It's the German stuff that you want, based on Patman's work)
