Car's going down tonight for a once-over...

I'm getting the car back into the garage tonight to start poking and prodding it for more power.

First step, get rid of my 918's. I have my PAC 1518's in and I'm going to be checking the install height of my springs. The 1518's will probably be going in at 1.75" install height due to their .650" lift clearance for some additional spring pressure.

Next will be to swap plugs for Autolite 104's.. I've been running the plugs Lloyd recommended at first which was a -7 heat range from NGK. I'm pretty sure these are too darn cold and I will find them fouled out.

58mm TB should be in next week as well.

After all this I hope to get the car on a dyno and maybe even dyno-tuned to see what things look like and see where I can squeeze more power out of it for the track.

Then I'll be back on the track come late January if all goes as planned looking for lower 11's or maybe even 10's.

Good luck, the small projects always become the biggest in my experience.

Well, I think my miss is not fouled plugs...

They're not great, but not terrible as far as I can tell. Pulled #3 and #4 real quick tonight to take a look:

A little fouled but my miss is somewhere else I believe, I've yet to see the other plugs though.

Anyone think a 104 will be too hot? These are NGK R 5671-A7 plugs

Update

Looks like we overtightened my polylocks during the engine build... so, that being said I'm going to replace my polylocks with some fresh ones and replace all my rocker studs. None were broken, but in case they were overstressed I feel it's worth the $100 for new stuff.

I'm going to pull my intake to take a look at my oil pump drive gear since the car is down for a week or two anyways while I get parts ordered in.

New throttle body should be in this week.

How did you overtighten your polylocks? And what made you realize it?

I realized it when I turned the rocker nut with the wrench and the rocker stud broke loose instead

I adjusted my rocker 1/4 turn when I built the engine. First I turned 1/8 and tightened the set screw, then took both the nut and set screw and turned the additional 1/8 turn to set lash. Way toooo tight. Followed this based on advice on the forum from a few members, didn't work out so well. Needed a cheater bar with the stud in a vice to get them off.

Good luck man, I also pulled my intake(porting the intake to fit a monoblade), installing an LTCC setup and dynoing this month before heading back to the track to see what I can do to. Later Clint

I just took my polylocks off and they were set exactly were I put them on
the install about 5k miles ago. I set the lock and then tighten the nut an
additional 20 ft lbs. Most came off between 15-20 ft lbs. Just FYI.

I've always torqued mine to 20 ft. lbs. as well, and have never seen one loosen up yet.

So hows the valvespring changing going? I know it's not too easy to do in the car but I did it last year too. When are you going run again?
