Carburated LT1 in a 2nd gen F-body question

i know GM performance makes the carb intake for LT1s, but my question is this:

Assuming i was gonna put the said LT1 in my trans am, how would i deal with the pressurized cooling system?

do i need to have a D/B body from 94-96 or F body cooling system from 93-97 also? or can i use the existing cooling system in my trans am?

Motor will possibly go into a 79 Trans am

Thanks.

Get the radiator out of a 94 to 96 camaro and fab up some mounts for it and use it . I'm useing one in my first gen camaro with no problems. Why not go ahead and use the fuel injection ? I think you would be much happier . If you going to run a carb setup save your money and just put a good old small block in there. Just my .02 .

  • i have an LT1 motor minus the intake and accessories already.no PCM, no wiring harness , just the short block, heads and cam. would cost me almost nothing to put this motor together.
  • the motor in the car now is a Pontiac 350, running fine.
  • to make LT1 kind of power from the 1972 Pontiac 350 that's in there would cost more than it would cost to swap my LT1 in.

i could scrap this whole idea and buy a 455 for under $500 and freshen it up and drop that in there too, that's another idea...
