Exclamation Car wouldn't start? MSD Dig 6?

My '95 Z drove to work fine, but when I left for the day it wouldn't start. The car just cranked and cranked and I finally decided to pop the hood. I thought this was weird because although I have a rather extensive list of mods and fixes performed to the car I haven't done anything that would impair it's driveability for over about a year now.

The first thing I checked was anything in the vicinty of the steering column because the last fix I had done was the rag joint elminator, about three weeks ago. Nothing was out of the ordinary.

I ran threw a checklist in my head what I should check and what I actually could check in a parking lot with no tools. I put failed fuel pump and/or fuel filter to the bottom. I then decided to check the ignition system. I have a the MSD digital 6 and the MSD wiring harness that plugs into the coil. I decided to unplug the single plug that the MSD uses and plug in the stock double plug back in.

After I did this the car started right up. After I drove home and got it safely into the garage I recreated the problem. The car did start this time but ran very, very rough and died after about 5 seconds. I then plugged the stock harness back in and it ran fine once again.

Does anyone have any input or responses why this would happen? Could this be opti related even though no SES lights were triggered? I have never changed the opti as long as I have had the car.

Thanks,
Phil

This is the exact same problem I had the last 2 weeks or so! Same situation and all too lol. Its done this too me again every 4th day or so. I found if i just stop trying to crank it, let it sit for maybe 5 seconds, prime the pump by turning the key for a second or two then try and crank it it starts right up.

Have you found out whats causing this? I had a new pump installed in the last year and a new fuel filter just a few weeks ago... I'm going to hook up my fuel pressure gauge and see what it has to say this afternoon.
