car at work for sale

ok so this guy at work might sell me his red 96 camaro z28 with a 6sp/convertible. Has 70,000 miles, needs a o2 sensor spark plugs and he said something about the rearend grinding. He doesnt know too much about cars so im not too sure on this. Exterior is pretty good and interior also. He said i could have it for 1,000.00 dollars. So should i get this or save my money for something else like ls1?

Holy crap, for $1K that is a hell of a deal. ****** it up cause if the car doesn't even run you could make more than that in a part out since all those convert parts are harder to come by.

I paid $4150 last spring for my 96 with 90k miles. If it was rust free I'd pick it up in a heartbeat.

Get it home, replace plugs, wires, opti, used complete rearend, and suspension wear parts and you have less then $2000-2500 invested into a car that is worth $3500-5000.

Conv's camaros are like any other conv as in they will leak eventually and are noisey all the time when the top is up. But, when it's nice outside and sunny it's worth it. The only real difference is the suspension and the way they tie the underside of convs together. If he hasn't done it already, I'd suggest some subframe connectors to tighten up the suspension on that baby when you get it.

That's a terrible deal. You should give me the guy's name and number so I can call him and tell him off for trying to rip you off like that! In fact I better just buy the car from him so he doesn't try to pull that **** on anyone else....

with 70k showing- it just needs bearings in the diff. 2 pinion bearings, 2 carrier bearings, a crush sleeve, seals, pinion nut, oil. why buy an entire questionable used rear axle assembly? ck. the axle bearings while you are in there.

i was thinking of buying a new rear end with posi and 4:10 gears. Easy swap and also it should be able to take what i throw at it later down the road. If i do get this i probably wont drive it really until after this summer beause i will deploy in june and when i get back is when i will buy most of the mods for it. Thats when all the fun will be
