car wont start. Think its tranny related.

Has a new battery. When i try to start the car you can hear the starter click but nothing happens. I think it might have something to do with the car not thinking its in park. Does this make any sense? Like maybe the linkage is loose underneath the car or something? Cause i dont have any other ideas.

thanks

Did you tighten the battery connections all the way? I doubt the tranny has anything to do with the car turning over..

The linkage could be off the tranny and it would still start as long as the shifter is in PARK or NEUTRAL. It's the switch on the shifter that tells the PCM that.

I agree with the above post, look at your battery cables again.

alright ill check the cables again. My haynes manual also says that the problem could lie with the main solenoid contacts or the starter motor itself. has anyone had experience with this and could tell me what their symptoms were like?

its rainy and freezing so theres little work i can do on the car so im just gathering information until the weather lets up.

About 2 months ago I rebuilt my motor and when I went to reassemble it I accidently put a ground wire that was suppose to ground on my tranny, I put it on my starter and every time I would go to start the car it would click but then just ground the starter out right away to where there starter wouldnt kick out the bendix, it took me weeks to finally realize it. Thats what it sounds like to me, have you messed with your starter recently?

Was it the passenger side O2? Starter wire, ground, O2 sensor wire and knock sensor wire are all in the same harness bundle.
