car wont start, please help

car was working fine a week ago, i hadnt drove it since. but today when i went to start the car, it would start but then dies. i notice 2 things, one is that i didnt hear the fuel pump prime and the other is that the fans turn on when the key turns (car not started).

what are the symptoms of a bad fuel problem, do they just go out or are there some warning before they go out. also if the fuel pump is bad would the car start at all?

any help is appreciated

thanks in advance
michael

I had no warning. It was running fine at a light and I went to go and the engine stalled. I thought I was in a wrong gear. Made sure I was in 1st and it stalled out again. After that it wouldnt' start. Waited for about 5 minutes and it started and I was able to limp home. I was able to just barely park and after that it would not start. I think it just depends on the fuel pump outage.
Get yourself a fuel pressure gauge and put it on and turn the key to the "on" position to see if it'll prime. Is it the stock pump? If not is the pump in the fuel bucket or did you just clamp it to the bracket?
My Holley pump was about 2 years old before it took a dump. I did not have the fuel bucket on it and I'm thinking when the fuel level would get too low the pump would heat up. Too many extreme heat cycles and it finally **** the bed. Just a theory of mine...
