Car wont start. Engine wont even turn over

So i went to the gym earlier tonight. Everything fine, I come out of the gym and try to start the car, engine turns for about 2 seconds like it's trying to start but it never makes it. Then all of the sudden it just stops trying to start and just turns off. I turn the key again to start it again and it doesn't do anything. I don't hear any click, no noise at all. It's just completely dead. Radio is working, lights are working and are getting a strong current. I tried to jump start the car and that didn't do nothing. Then i tried to push start the car and I was able to get the engine to go on for a split second, however it died immediately.

I left it at the gym parking lot and I'm going to go get it in the morning. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong? Could it be the starter? My friend told me it couldn't be because the push start should have kicked on the car. The battery has a good charge so it's not that. Alternator? The only other thing it could be it the OPTI? Would the car turn if it was the opti?

yeah the security light is on when i turn the key, but it goes off after i turn it off? I was reading some post and I noticed some saying that it stays on if it's what you're thinking.

I left it at the gym I'm going to head down there and see exactly what happens with the security light because I'm not really sure I remember what exactly happened. I just remember all of the lights going on when i turn the key, check engine, check guages, etc etc etc

ok i checked it out. When i turn the key the security and ABS light both blink. All the other lights just go on. After i turn the key off everything goes off. Is this going to be a security issue?

If the security light is not going out, then yeah, it is a security problem.

If the security light is blinking, it means there is an issue with the system. (VATS on these cars). Make sure the little pellet resistor in the key is giving a good connection in the ignition.

Often the thin white wires that contact the pellet will break in the steering column. Happened to me. I had to goto radio shack and make a resistor equal to my key value and bypass the VATS system. cost about $1 worth of parts.

Try cleaning the pellet on the key with some alcohol or electronic parts cleaner. If you have an extra set of keys, try those.

That's the only time the VATS has power. There is nothing for the VATS to do when the key is off.

Was it the purple wire going down the passenger fender where it is wrapped with others with a foil protector?

not sure what wire. I took it to a mechanic and he said it was a tiny wire with a little crack in it.
