Red face car won't start

I'm not getting a click or anything. I tested the battery and it said it was fine. I've had problems with this battery before, but it's been ok after charging and since it tested fine I'm assuming for now it's ok. Someone told me to check the fuse, but I'm not sure which fuse they meant.

What obvious things should I start checking?

Check the connections and the battery terminals. Then trace the negative cable to where it grounds out(can't remember if its on the block or the frame), then trace the positive cable to the starter and make sure that connection is good. If those are all good then you are looking at a bad starter or a bad ignition switch most likely. Either that or your pass-key system is messing up. Hook up a scanner to it and see if it is throwing any codes. Autozone will do if for free.

The connections on the battery are fine. I'll have to trace the cables and check those. It doesn't seem like it would be the connections just because it happend suddently and just seems like something went out. I was thinking about the starter, but I'm not good with electrical...what are the usual symptoms of a bad starter? what is the pass-key system? I can't get it scanned at Autozone...the car doesn't run It isn't licensed anyway though.

Well since you are getting NOTHING from the starter I would point my finger at the starter solenoid. It is mounted on the starter and generally you just replace the whole starter if it goes out. Like i said, it is either that or the ignition switch. My ignition switch went out and it did the same thing to me. Ignition swith is only like 15 bucks and the starter is like 100.

maybe i'll just take the starter out and have it tested and go from there...Autozone will test a starter if you bring it in out of the car right?

Yeah they have a bench tester that can test it. That would be a good way to go about it so you dont go spending money that you dont have to...

I've had starters test good, when indeed they were bad.

great I had a plan and you went and ruined it

well I'll get it tested anyway...if it tests bad I'll assume its bad and if it tests good I still won't rule it out.

Have them test it, and if it works, keep an eye on the amp draw. If it's high, it's most likely bad. Ask them what the usual draw is, because I can't quite remember.

Do the headlights work? Do you have any dash lights?

I believe all the lights work...headlights and dash lights don't exist on the car anymore, but the rear view mirror lights work and I believe the running lights as well...

Did you check the quality of the connections on the ground strap from the frame to the engine on the driver side? Or did someone remove that too??????
