Car wont start...

... and I'm not quit sure what it could be.

As of late the car has been sitting 'cause it needs a trans. I have been starting it atleast once or twice a week and letting it run for a little while, up untill last week when it decided it did not want to start.

When I try to start the car it just cranks over and sounds like it is going to start sometimes, sounds like it turns over for a split second and then stops. The car has spark and has fuel so I am stummped.

Info on the car:

Fresh rebuild (prolly has about 3400 miles on it)
Heads/Cam/Spray(this motor has never been sprayed yet)
LT's
3.73's
36lb injectors
Walbro HPHV 255lph (talked to someone at Walbro and they told me it was actually a 355lph pump? Dunno.)

I changed my ignition switch out a while ago, this has completely different symptoms than the ignition switch.

Re: Car wont start...

how did u check for spark?

A whle ago i had a problem like urs, it turned out to be fouled plugs.
I changed the drivers side (because it was easier) and it fired up. Thats something easy and cheap to try.

Also if you have spark and fuel what about air? Is their a dead rat in your intake? or maybe you mass air sensor is bad.

Try starting it at WOT and see if you can get it to fire

let the car turn over and keep it going it will start may take 15 sec or so if its leaky injectors like mine has to burn off exses fuel then it will start ..Just keep the starter going till she starts..

I was thinking that it could be fouled plugs, and now that you mention it again that's prolly the problem. Anyways I pulled 4 of the plugs when I was thinking that could be it, cleaned them up and put them back in and it still didn't start.

I've done that.... actually I did it so much that I had my Maxima hooked up to, and running, the battery on my Camaro while I was trying to start it so it wouldn't die, haha.

thats a good way to fry a starter and strain the battery.

Starters arn't designed to run for more then a continuous 5 seconds before a brake

My car seems to be the same way but what is the proper way to fix this. Once my car starts and while i am trying to start it, the scent of fuel is way to obvious. How often do injectors go bad?
