Car wont start

Ok I was on the way home from the mall and the car just dies on me, I coast over and try to start it again and it cranks but doesnt start. Get it towed home and talk with my dad who thinks its the timing chain because its cranking over to fast he thinks. So I replace the timing chain which is fine and still nothing. Then we go through the service manual trying to figure it out and discover there is no spark. So we replace, opti and coil. Still no spark. I go back to class (college) and he replaces the the Ignition coil module and ecm at the same time and it starts but runs terribly. So we replace the spark plugs and wires thinking we fouled the plugs or messed up the wires. We attempt to start it fires and runs terrible for about 10 seconds and then dies. It wont start, spark is gone, I cant get the ecm to give me dtc 12. When i turne the key to on the service engine soon light doesnt come on, and i dont here the fuel pump kick. Did I fry the ecm, anyone whats going on with this thing?

Coil wire. If nothing else, I suspect the Opti.

Re: Car wont start

i just went through the same thing after replacing the head gasket. i then went through the hassle of replacing the cap and rotor, only when i got everything re-assembled it still wouldn't fire. i then replaced the ignition module and just like that, it fired right up and hadsn't given me any problems since.........knock on wood. since you've done everything else, i would try that........it wouldn't hurt

The ICM is pretty tricky to track down. When it stalls out. Do any gauge lights illuminate?
