Last week I go shopping cars running fine not missing a beat at all. Then when i go to leave it wont start, the lights are real dim so I jump it to no avail. Tow the car home, today I pick up a batery from a friend and hook it up, alarm starts going off so I knowit has charge. But the car wont start, jump start it again and same deal, I can hear the starter trying to start the motor but the car wont fire. I can also hear the fuel pump energizing up. Even with another car jumping it, still wont start. Also when you go to start it, the voltgauge takes a drop from 13 down to the yellow area. Starter is less than a year old, and I can hear it trying to start the car like normal. I dont think its a bad alternator because the batery would charge and the car would start just die after the battery got drained. Any ideas?

 

does it happen only when wet outside? Smoke from exhaust? Try cleaning your Idle air control valve.. Solved my problem

check for spark. you could have a bad coil, ignition module, opti etc... also check for proper fuel pressure

 

No it smell fine and it does this wet or dry, I think its some thing electrical. Bad coil, the car would still hold charge which its not doing right now. Right when I took the power off it fromt he other car I got no lights or any thing.Some thing keeps draining the batery then when it has chrage wont let it start. I think the starter is fine because it wouldnt effect the charge for the rest of the car as goes for the opti or any other thing. I have had a bad opti and starter before, I love this car but its getting old and all the little head aches and hassles are starting to come about.
