If you don't have dome lights, your battery connections are probably loose. That is if your battery is any good at all.

Perhaps someone else knows of a major fuse or security problem that might be the cause.

I've trid jumping a fried battery before and it wouldn't work. Don't exactly know why you can't just jump the cable alone, but it just seems like when it goes through a bad battery or one with loose connections or terminals, that it won't work.

First I'd check the connections to make sure they are tight (but make sure they are not corroded, since tightening them won't do any good if there is no contact between the cables and the terminals.

And...if you battery is past its prime, be sure to get a new one. JMHO

When jumping the battery the negative connection to the dead battery should go somewhere besides the terminal. Frame, engine, etc. You probably know this, but it also will tell you if your battery ground cable is loose underneath, if the car starts when you use proper jumping technique.
