ok.....i have recently purchased a 95 trans am traded my camaro for it im at a friends house and go to leave and the car is going down the road about 2 miles then wham the car just turns off i try to crank it and it won't so i coast into a gas station lift the hood and i see a little coolant coming from under the alternator and a little bit of smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe on the drivers side i tried cranking the car again and i have to crank it while giving it alot of gas and it will crank and stay running as long as the RPMs stay above 3 thousand but it runs ruff as hell and if i let go of the gas pedal it goes dead any thoughts as to where to start w/ this it was really weird how it just suddenly happened im kinda stumped where to start w/ this one BTW the car never got hot or showed a hot temp

 

the only thing i thought is maybe water pump started leaking and crapped out my opti at the same time? i dunno really need some guidance w/ this one

 

is it running hot?


could be a head gasket.

 

That could very well be. When my water pump leaked, it got the opti wet and the car ran like crap. The opti was OK once it dried, and continued to work until it was replaced when the 383 was built.
