Did you replace your opti when you converted to deltec?

You dont need to rev it higher, but the faster and more you open the throttle at idle will put more stress on the ignition system and will pronouce the problem (and the arching) more. Look around the coils while you do this, also i believe there is a way to test the coils based on resistance. Check the resistance of all the coils are close to each other, although im not sure what values to expect.

Did you mean plug wires?? check them all real good and make sure none are burnt that will give you the symptoms you described, I've had that happen.

Re: Car Stuttering/Missing

So many things cause hesitation in our cars... it's hard to diagnose. I had this problem last year and found out it was the plug wires. My headers had burned 2 of them and it was hard to see without actually inspecting them. So, check your wires first. Here are some threads you should check out for more info... lots or reading.

Re: Car Stuttering/Missing

A dead O2 sensor could definately cause that to happen. I had the same problem about a year ago, and a new O2 sensor solved the problem. Best to just go ahead and replace both of them while you're at it. Make sure you get the AC Delco replacements, people claim to have problems with Bosch and other brands.

Re: Car Stuttering/Missing

Did the stuttering begin all of a sudden? Or was it more gradually and has worsened over time?

EDIT: Check your fuel filter if it was gradual. Also check the voltage on your TPS. Here's a thread to help you with that if you don't know how:

The reason I asked this is because coilpack setups will greatly slow down, or stop damage. But they won't fix an opti thats already gone south.

Well, before you tear into your opti, I would check your ICM grounds.
there is a small braided cable running from the engine to the drivers side frame, under the brake controler. I'd remove it and clean the connection where it rests with a wire wheel or steel wool. Trace it back to the engine and do the same.
If that doesn't fix it. Check the ICM and coil grounds. I'd be more specific, but I've never seen a deltec setup.

It happened all of the sudden.
