Car still has hard start
Car still has hard start
O.K. guys I have changed the iat, iac, temp sensor, pcm, and pretty much everything else. I have checked for a fuel leak at the fpr and had the rails off. I have also checked the pressure. One thing I just noticed is if I let the car sit for a few days it starts right up. Does that seem like a fuel press proble to anyone else? I appreciate any help guys. Thanks.
Re: Car still has hard start
By testing fuel pressure you should connect the fuel pressure test gauge, turn the key to the on position watch the gauge shoot up to roughly 38-42psi then turn the car off, and see how long she holds pressure. She should hold pressure pretty decent and not drop very fast. It could be a faulty check valve in your fuel pump assembely, that was the case with mine. Mite want to also check the ICM (Ignition Control Moduel) that is the sensor located on the bracket with the coil. Mite want to also make sure your coil is good and their is no arcing of wires. Did u test the coil, plugs, wires, opti yet?
Re: Car still has hard start
I already changed the ICM, and checked the fuel pressure. I also checked the injectors and have had them cleaned. My fear has been the fuel pump but my friend at a local dealer says he is pretty sure it isn't my pump. I do not know how to check the starter. I have already changed the opti, wires, and plugs. Yes the car runs fine after it starts.
Re: Car still has hard start
How about clarifying the problem. Is it that the car cranks slow? Or is it that it cranks at a good speed but just takes a while to fire up? What about time related? ie, it starts quickly when it sits for 3 days, if its a 1/2 day it cranks normally but takes about 10 seconds to fire up. If you take it for a drive and let it sit for 1/2 hour it fires right up, but let it sit for 3 hours and cranks way to long? Understand. Give us more details.
