car starts hard after longtubes and starter reinstall

I just installed my longtubes and reinstalled my starter and everything.......but when I start my car up (open longtubes) it starts way differently like it takes alot longer and it chugs a couple times then fires up nicely. Is it normal or could I have installed the starter wrong?

If the starter where the problem, it would be cranking real slow. You would notice that I assume. The starter cranking slow would be from a current problem. Does the starter seem to be dragging? Or does it just seem to be taking longer to fire up but the starter seems to be rotating the normal speed?

Yea the starter does seem to be dragging I guess, it just turns over real slow and rotates a couple times, then chugs and then it fires up. Maybe I will check the connections on the starter, and if thats not it, then maybe a LT4 starter is in my future.

Your problem with low current could be one of 3 things. Bad battery, bad wiring or bad starter. If the alternator were bad, it would simply go dead so that's not it. The easiest way to find which it is would be to monitor the voltage across the battery when you crank it over. If it drops below 11 volts, the starter is probably bad.
