Car starts, but then SHUTS OFF!! Whats the deal?

I just don't get it... I have always had problems with my car not starting due to the little computer chip on the key. The security light pop on at random moments when I am trying to start the car. But not its something completely different.

I start the car, the engine revs to about 2,000rpm and then shuts itself off? I try and restart and it does the same thing.

This happens only at random moments. A few nights ago, started up fine, drove it for a while. Shut it off at a friends house and it started right back up when I left for home.

Next morning, car started then stalled.

I do have a computer flash from PCMforless and I am going to contact them as well and see if it is in fact the Vehicle Anti Theft System and if so, have them program that function out.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Dustin

It has to be the key... I checked all the hoses, no problems there. I don't have a scan tool.

The car started right up about thirty minutes ago. I drove it around the neighborhood, let it get up to operating temperature and then I took it home. I turned off the car and waited about a minute or so and tried to start it again... NOTHING, just the security light blinking and staying on.

I am goign to get two new keys made tomorrow. If that dosen't solve the problem I will see if PCMforless has any ideas.

Thanks

Dustin

Blinking, I believe, means it is having trouble reading the key. Clean your keys and the lock cylinder with some spray contact cleaner. It may just be dirty.
