car starts.....for 8 seconds.....multiple times

The title says it all. Car will start, run for 8 seconds, then die. It doesn't sputter, just dies. All connections are fine. Battery and alternator are good. Fuel pump primes and at least delivers for 8 seconds oil pressure is good. New vacuum lines from intake manifold to fuel pressure regulator. So......what do I do?

No codes either....

In between starts it needs to sit for about 30 seconds.....don't know if that matters, but it won't start immediately after it dies. Smells like its running rich too.....

If I could drive it, I'd take it to O'reillys or something to have them check it. Don't feel like buying a fuel pressure guage unless I absolutely have to....why would it all of the sudden change to getting too much/too little? What would cause that?

Could be the theft deterent system. If the ECM isnt getting the signal from the BCM it will do exactly what you are describing. If it runs fine and just suddenly started doing this then it could be. Did you just fix something?

I found this out when I deleted my BCM. I forgot to shut off the VATS and the car would start, run fine and just shut off 8-10 sec later. Restart just fine.
