Car shorted out this morning

OK, i went to get in the car this morning. Unlock the doors via remote. All lights are on. Get in, turn the key....everything just went black. No dome lights, nothing when iturn the key. I thought it was a fuse somewhere, but i checked every single one and they are all good. I need some suggestions as to what could be the problem. PCM fried? Battery crap out? The only other thing i can think of is my starter. It's been acting up lately, could it have shorted out and caused this?

Loose connection on the battery...
If u have no electricity it has to be the battery..
Even with a crapped out alternator it'll slowlly kill your lights and power and even after that your dome light should still work for awhile.
What u discribed is a battery crapping out or more possibly a loose connection.

it's defintely not a loose cable, checked that. And the battery was fine the other day. The thing that puzzles me is it didn't fade away. It just all of a sudden, when i turned the key, power went dead.

It has to be a loose connection somewhere or bad connection somewhere on teh battery or a bad battery. Try jumping the car. Maybe theres a loose connection on the starter to the battery.. Try swapping the battery with your friends or your other cars.

For me I had the exact same thing happen because of dirty terminals on the battery... I was like.. wtf? I jiggled it around a bit and the power came back. Try cleaning the terminals with some iron wool or something coarse...

Well, you were right. I couldn't jiggle the terminal on the battery, but i decided to unscrew both terminals and put them back on, well, as soon as i started unscrewing the positive terminal, it kinda sparked like it wasn't connected before and i just touched the battery. Sure enough, i unscrewed it, it was perfectly clean, i screwed it back in and presto! everything was back to normal.

Yes that happens all the time, you'll have a bit of power & when you try to start it it'll just die & have no power, reason for that is because you had a really bad connection that barely conducted, once you tried putting some load on there that section got oxidezed by ozone very fast, than even that connection sucks, so I'd clean both terminals before you start having the wire going like that again, bad connection causes ozone, everything around that area starts to rust.
