Car runs hotter with new headers on...
I put pacesetter longtubes on my car, and finally got the y-pipe and hooker catback on. I have to say, holy crap, it really woke up my car. But it seems my temp runs a bit higher than it used to. I did crack my coolant sensor while installing the headers, and put in a cheap autozone one back in. Also I deleted my AIR and EGR, and didn't have my computer tuned yet. I get no SES light because the EGR selonoid (sp) is plugged in still.. Why does it run hotter? its about 210-215 fully warm, and it used to be lower than that.

Are the headers coated? If not, they could be adding a considerable amount of heat to the engine bay that wasn't there before, that could explain your higher engine temps.

you can sit in traffic for the longest time and the temp pin barely moves!
Re: Car runs hotter with new headers on...
Well, you did change the sending unit, so there you go. It would be extremely hard to say just how much of the increase in temperature can be attributed to the headers and how much can be attributed to the new sensor. I'll take a wild guess and say that the actual coolant temperatrure is still almost exactly the same as it was before, so I wouldn't worry about anything.

you could also just have the tune programmed to turn your fans on sooner. that is what i did when i got my hot cam installed, i still have the stock thermostat, but the needle barely gets above the first line and i sit in a lot of traffic here in the chicagoland area. I hear the fans turn on very early, its nice, the engine bay temps are also not too bad either, i have coated MAC mids.
