car runs [poorly] when idling in traffic

Once in a while.. if I sit in traffic my car will start to idle down really low, almost dying.. seems to happen more often when I run the a/c, but I have to run the a/c so that my fans are on, and my car doesnt get hot... anyways, I usually have to start reving the crap out of it, making me look like a tard... t then it finally straightens out. I'm thinking.. with my cam.. it might be picking up knock.. and when the temps gets a little higher.. the timing is retarding maybe? also.. it loses power.. where I have to slip the clutch like a 4 banger when I move up in traffic. ps. I have a high volume fuel pump.. 255lph.. maybe it's loading up?

what are the specs on ur cam also do you have the factory rocker arms still or did you upgrade those. Because the engine is like a big air compressor it lets air in and out.

Yea I still have the factory rocker arms... the cam.. was fairly mild.. but hotter than the LT-4 hot cam.. I'm pretty sure the cam is 220/230 510/510 and the lobe seperation.. not for sure.. 115 maybe..

also about the vavles.. I have to adjust them often.. had the cam about 2 years, and I've adjusted them at least three times.. they tick really bad when it's cold when they get out of adj.

You might want to look into buying some Comp Cams Pro Magnum 1.6 rocker arms. It would be a very good rocker arm for that camshaft. And about you having to adjust the valves im not really sure..

Could be a few things....
IAC not working properly
Incoming air to hot
Vacuum leak
Tear in your elbow after the MAF

If it is worse with the A/C on I would suspect that IAC is not adjusting for the extra load.

I would guess that with that cam that your idle is going to be a bit rough anyway, especially if your pcm is not tuned for a higher idle. JMHO

Take throttle body off clean the passages. Do A good job with q-tips and throttle body cleaner only. then take the maf apart ond clean it gently with electric parts cleaner and q-tips be careful. buy new top and lower gaskets for the throttle body.
