If one or more of your wires have been burned, you should really replace them. Three of mine were burned about 2 years ago and it ran very rich, and backfired readily. They were still giving spark, but sure enough the were the problem. Especially once you start dealing with headers, wires are burned more frequently by accident.
Don't be so sure. From my experiences most of the time backfiring is the result of plug wires. The other times its either the coil/opti.

it did the same backfire before with an old set of plug wires that had 0 burn marks on them, and now my new MSDs....so I am ruling out plug wires since it has done it with 2 sets
