Car Popping When At Idle.

I noticed the other day that when I start my car, it pops for a few seconds then quits. It's not like a loud crisp pop or a backfire, but kind of a low gurgling detonation, with a couple of very low pops. I have a full exhaust system and not cat. Could it be doing this, because I have a leaky injector. It only does this for about the first 5 seconds it's started. I've also noticed that sometimes it will backfire one time when I am trying to start it. But if I just keep the key turned it will start. Any ideas or suggestions? BTW, the airpump has been blowing fuses like crazy, could this have anything to do with it.

Arrow A Little More Info.

Well this evening when I was headed out. I started it up. It did the same thing, started harder than it usually does, but tonight it let out a loud backfire, like a firecracker. So while I was going down the road I decided to take a few readings from my Scanmaster. When I was under normal acceleration, I was getting 2 degrees of knock and when I was sitting at a stoplight at idle I was getting .2 degrees of knock. Once I got out of town I went to WOT and got 10 degrees of knock at 53 MPH. When I was headed home I took some readings at 60 mph with the cruise on. I was at about 1800-1900 RPM. My readings were as follows.

Block learns: 108 & 109 / Integrators: Ranging from 123-138 for both / and still showing code 29 even though I haven't popped a fuse in a week. If anybody needs more readings let me know.

These are my ideas: Opti, Injector/Injectors, spark plug wires. Would bad gas show any of these symptoms? I'm open to ANY and ALL ideas/suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I'm not doubting you. I'd just like some other opinions, before i go buy a new opti and find out I'm stuck with the same thing. Thanks though.

I'm thinking it could possibly just be spark plug related. See if any are burnt or have backed outta their proper places. The opti may have fixed somebody elses, since it does sound like an ignition related issue, but yours could very well be something else. Mine's been popping a bit more lately and I have a feeling it's just the spark plugs, which I haven't changed yet.

Start with the basics...plugs, wires, be sure you have a good spark @ the coil. Then check out the cap and rotor. (I had assumed you already did)

I just put new plugs in it labor day. And as stupid as this may sound I put new wires on the drivers side, but not the passenger side. I'm not getting any misses when I accelerate or at WOT and no rough idleing. Thanks so far guys.

Have you read over Injuneer's Scanmaster page?

Make sure your MAF is clean. Check vacuum lines. Check fuel pressure. If you get a rapid bleed down when the engine is shut off, it could be a leaky injector. Check intake elbow for a good seal.

I haven't looked at the Fuel Pressure when I shut it off, but I'll do it right now since I have a gauge. I'll report back in a few.
