Question Car over heating HELP!!!!!

So a week ago I leave in the morning and my low coolant light is on, which is odd, because my car doesn't have any leaks. All of my hoses are next to new. I get off work and when I start the car the light doesn't come on, so I don't think much of it. A couple of days of sitting I drive to my woman's house( 15 minutes away) and I notice the light comes on and my temp guage is peaking as I'm pulling up to stop. SES light comes on and throws a 14. Coolant temp sensor?

Yesterday I flush and fill at a Jiffy lube and leave. half way back to the girl friends, the same thing except now I have anti-freeze pouring out of the overflow.

What I did. I bled the air out through the bleeder screws and filled the system back up. My heater was blowing hot air so the system is circulating and water is returning through the return hose. And the fans come on like normal when idling.

What is worst case scenario. No I didn't drive more than 100 feet when it did overheat. There is no hesitation or loss of power when cold. It sounds normal.

Please help

I'm facing the same problem right now too actually...

ok, here are the things i'm doing right now...

my low coolant light came on too, and i noticed there was a burp in the system (big air bubble that popped) so it made the light go on, but thats probably not ur problem...

I have 90K miles on this car, and the prev owner put the green coolant which 1 person told me eats the aluminum away and since the rad is from aluminum, my radiator can gone bad (this can happen with u too... if u got some miles) ur next possibility is ur water pump has gone bad (one possibility with me too) or you reservoir might be cracked (mine leaks when i put a lil too much in it from the bottom) or ur hoses have gone bad, or ur thermo doesnt open all the way... or the worst is you can have a head gasket leak which will burn up the coolant... mind you if its leaking coolant REALLY STINKS you will smell it FOR SURE

here is what i'd do 1st

the easiest thing out of all these is to change the thermo... get a new 180 and see if teh new thermo helps (i dont reccomend 160 unless u get fan programming cuz ur fans will turn on too late)

if that doesnt do it, check ur reservoir to see if its leaking...

next thing u might wanna do is check if ur rad is messed up and change that (but if ur low coolant light is coming on, i doubt thats the prob)

so if radiator is fine too, ur best is to check ur water pump, cuz they tend to go bad alot... and if that doesnt do it like i said, it might be a head gasket leak (which will stink really really bad) and if that dont fix it, i cant help you

oh yah, what temp you running at? 210-220 is normal 230 is a bit to much and 240 lil high 250 is high and 260 should get u smoking...

upto 245 its 'safe' to drive, but obvisouly not good

When I first noticed the problem( the light) there were no leaks at all. I didn't check anything, I just waited couple of days without driving and took it to flush the system. Hoses are perfect. Water pump seems to be working, the hoses have temperature and when I opened the cap, the return line was circulating. My heater is hot as hell, so it's circulating there. It didn't overheat until I flushed the radiator

check the hose below the one connecting to the thermostat, if i remember correctly if that one does not have pressure u need a better therostat

but thats all the advice i can give...

than you got a burp in the system which caused the light to go on, and ur coolant isnt being cooled sufficient enough because ur radiator has gone bad...

sounds just ilke my prob
