car not running right...

when i start my car, it dies right after it starts up. takes about 5-10 seconds of cranking for it to start again.
when i get around 4000 RPM, car starts bucking and shaking. Wont rev any higher. feels like its missing really bad. when i pull up to a stop sign or light, RPMs drop to around 500 and sometimes it stalls.
but it seems to have a little more power than usual. i was just driving it and revved it up good, and when it kicked into second the tires chirped. it hasnt done that in a while.

whats going on?

When my car had issues like starting...then not starting till 5-10 minutes later it was the Altinator I found out...that and plus a week battery....

This stalling out feeling, trouble cranking or issues like that at low rpm's can be an altinator issue.... but the 4K RPM thing is a different story. The Buckign and shaking migh be a completely different problem. You say it feels like it's missing did you check your plugs wires ETC? Do you have an MSD box? start with that suff first.

its been doin this thing with starting and stalling for a long time. but i never used to have problems with it wanting to stall at stop lights before. i just took the car out for a ride, and it revved up to 6 grand or so like it used to. its got a stumble when i kick it hard, but than it recovers and takes off. i changed the plugs without changing the wires. im wondering if i maybe screwed some of them up when i pulled them off.

would plug wires cause the SES light to come on?

There's a million things that can cause your SES light to come on...especially in your ignition system. At this point it might be a good idea to have the car scanned... Atleast your getting a Code for your problem.

I had the same problem with my car.

Turned out to to be a bad O2 sensor.
