my brother got in an accident with my car. he was driving in the rain and accelerated too fast making it fishtail and the back right tire banged against the curb. the tire and wheel flew off the car on impact and the car wound up doing a 180 degree spin onto the other side of the road cause he slammed on the breaks. i got the car fixed and it needed a new r/r axel, wheel/tire, brake caliper cable and rotor, and control arm. i got it back but it's not right. when i turn the wheel hard left or right i hear a metal crunching kind of sound. the autoshop first noticed the sound in reverse and they think it's the gears. i havent noticed the sound in reverse but i hear a bad clicking/crunching sound when i turn the wheels hard. i feel like its coming from that back right wheel but im not sure i really dont think it's the gears. sorry this is so long but i trust the people on here more than any other mechanic. thanks in advance.

 

I believe your differential is toast....

 

i would also say look at the differential since it is happening under heavy turns...

out of curiosity, how fast was he going that it ripped the wheel off the car on impact?

 

it was a 40 mph zone he slowed down to 25 mph to change the radio then he prob hit the gas 3/4 the way down and spun out going about im guessing 35 mph when it banged into the curb... how do i go about getting this fixed?

 

Look at your axle and spider gears in the rear end.

 

Perhaps when they refilled the diff(after replacing the axle)they didnt put any limited slip additive in!!!
