Car Idles Funny After Nitrous Install
Well after I installed my wet kit I go crank the car up and it idles funny. Like it's not hitting like it should. Usually idles alot louder and healthier sounding. I look and see that my belt has shredded a rib off. Replace the belt thinking my alternator is slipping. It seems to run right for a little while then it starts doing it again. Sounds like ignition to me. I took it down to a parts store and let them check the charging system. They say it seems to be charging fine. Then the checked the battery and it came up bad. They check it again and it says check connections. I finally took the battery out and had them check it inside one last time b4 I bought another and it came up good....wtf. Could the belt slipping cause the alternator to kill the battery. I heard that a weak battery would make the car run weak even if the alternator was working fine. It's gotta be the alternator, battery,or that dam optispark again huh. What you guys think. I checked the plugs...they didn't look 2 bad ,but I replaced them anyway. If the system was carrying the correct voltage my wiring for the nitrous must be correct right. It's weird how it seemed to be running fine then started acting up. When it idles the voltage will be real low on my guage. WHEN IN DOUBT THOUGH I USUALLY CHANGE THE DAM OPTI,BUT COULD IT BE BATTERY. I HATE IGNITION PROBLEMS...NOT MY FORTAY
I would do the alternator and the battery to rule that out. A bad alternator will kill your battery and vise-versa, so I'm told. It's definately more of a PITA to do the opti, and with no codes I would look their last. Bad alternator could give you low spark and low fuel pressure at idle which would cause a miss.
thx guys...I had a small crack in the intake elbow throwing my air calibration off. Then I also found that the fuel solenoid on my nitrous kit was leaking past the seals causing it to run pig rich. A messed up air/fuel calibration would make any car run like ***..
