car dies everytime passanger front wheel hits water puddle

Is there anyway to prevent this? Am I missing some sort of water splash blocker?

In heavy rains I get so tense because if I hit (even a small one just right) a puddle my car will die and I have to wait 3-5 minutes for 'something' to dry and then it will start again, otherwise it just cranks over and studders.

Ideas?

That's nuts man!! I have none of the original splash guard/shields on my ride. I even forgot to put my filters back on my CAI one day and drove in the rain.

I do know that twice now (not the same plug), I've had a plug wire get too close to the belt and split it open; any time it rains...car runs TERRIBLY and have to replace the wire. It is on my passenger side too. Coincidence maybe.

Anyone else think it could be my plug wires? The mechanic did tell me he thought they were origional but the car only has 149,000 miles on it.
