Car burped?? Funky whirring noises too
First things first. An ongoing problem with this car, a 1994 z-28, there is a whirring noise coming from the car when i start it up. It seems to be coming from the mass air flow sensor or close to the airbox. It got louder when i put on a K@N intake. I checked all the connections there are no gaps. SOmetimes the car starts up running at 1000 0r even 1200 RPM. After a few seconds it dies down to 700 rpm. The second noise is a squeak that only happens under WOT when the car shifts out of third gear (auto tranny). Then a couple days ago i was on the highway in traffic and i went to accelerate around a car. I pushed the pedal down and had a moment of lapse. No power and the car made a noise like it burped. Then the power came back. no problems running since then. ANy suggestions for the three troubles???
hmmm, could be a few things, but this is my opinion. The first noise/high rpm you are having DEFINITLY seems like an intake leak somewhere. You say it is near the MAF, check the BOTTOM of the intake elbow on the throttle body side. Those are nortorius for folding up and not making a seal. That would DEFINITLY cause your high idle as well. The 2nd noise issue your having, loss of complete power with your foot on the floor definitly sounds like a spark issue. When was the last time you did plugs, wires, coil? I doubt its opti, atleast i hope its not. I would change plugs, wires, coil before i go into that. What do you all think?
