I was driving home from walmart (yea walmart) and i smashed on 1st ripped 2nd and held it to about 5200rpms. When I went to push the clutch in to third and put it in neutral to coast back down as soon as the clutch was in the rpm went nuts going from like 5800 to 6300 and it sounded like it was banging off a rev limiter or something since it factory I guess there is a rev limiter. It did it like three times real quick and then it dropped down to 1800 since it was in neutral. Could it have been the throttle cable stick and it banging off the rev limiter and if it was how do I fix that.

Make sure the throttle body lever isn't hanging up on anything such as a hose clamp.
