cap and rotor or the whole thing??

I have a 95 z28 and its leaking from the opti seal and I was just wondering if I should just buy the seals and a cap and rotor, or should I replace the whole unit while I'm there?

TIA

Is it the stock opti?

Because if it is, then might as well change it, unless you're really strapped for cash. IMHO

I've heard some iffy things about MSD, but also some great ones,
and Accel is apparently not very good, AC Delco is good.

But then again people have said some great things about the $150 ebay opti and the cheap autozone ones too.

Give the opti a coat of clear sealer from home depot before you put it in, just adds another layer of prevention for the same thing happening again.

Stock = whole new unit
You don't want to have to do the work again.

The cap and rotor are not the only parts of the opti that wear. If your opti has alot of mileage, then I would just replace it. Considering the cost of an MSD cap/rotor kit and then the cost of a brand new complete Delco opti, there is not a drastic price difference.

I checked autozone and they have one for $124.99 but it looks like it doesn't come with the cap and rotor which is $119.99. so total of ~$250.

any recomendations of where to get the AC DELCO unit?,
has anybody tried the ebay optisparks?

Jason Cromer. You can find his number on shoebox's tech page. I believe vented optis are currently going for $270 with a $30 core or something along those lines.

Pretty sure Summit is selling them still too. I would avoid the Autozone or anything off of Ebay that doesn't have a Delco name on it.

Don't know if you bought your opti yet, but "thepartsladi" sells genuine ac delco units for $260 + $8 for shipping. I just ordered one tonight.

Its the name of an ebay store. They sell ac delco opti's. I have read threads where this store was recommended for a place to get genuine opti's for the best price. $260 is a deal. Just go onto ebay and search for optispark. You should see thepartsladi under the list of ebay stores.
