cant get rid of air bag light

Ok here we go! I had headers installed and when I got the car back it had the damn air bag light on. So from what I've read I had to disconnect the air bag and battery and make sure that once the air bag system cleared that I hooked the battery up before hooking the air bag back up. Well it didnt work! Tried it a couple of times and I let it sit with the battery disconnected for like 15 minutes before hooking it back up but still no luck? Someone Please help me I am so sick of looking at lights on the dash that dont need to be there. Air bag and SES from missing AIR pump....GGGGGRRRRRRRR

Thanks in advance for any help

sir coil

If the guys who put your headers on removed the intermediate
steering shaft to get clearance, there is a possibility that the sir coil is snapped if the steering wheel was turned at any point with the shaft removed. Steering column willhave to be taken apart and coil replaced, not cheap, parts or labour.

Good call CDN. That would be my guess also. Check the fuse circuit also as they could have shorted something and blown the fuse.

You can disable that lamp in about 5 minutes without going into the dash but that won't solve your problem of the air bag circuit not functioning correctly. I would have the company whom did your headers replace their mistakes. It may be a hard one to prove though.

Good luck.

Could be as simple as one of the air bag connectors being open for some reason, too.

ohhhh noooo! This must be whats wrong with mine. I turned the steering wheel (actually spun) while I had the motor out last year. Crap!

So how hard is this to fix? The coil is expensive? Does this require most of the dash being disassembled?

It is over $100 wholesale. Doesn't look hard to get off once the steering wheel is removed.

How do you disable the light?

B1 on the 24 way connector pack located behind the glove box. Just lower the glovebox all the way down and look for the connector.

All your doing is shutting off the lamp feed wire to the light bulb. Keep in mind, this isn't disableing anything BUT the lamp.

hope this helps.

I need to disable my light too. Just one day, the darn thing started coming on. Do you know which wire is for the traction control wire too?
