can't get the clutch fork in-what am I doing wrong

I push it up but it only seems to engage partway, I thought it was in, but a couple pushes of the clutch and it cam loose again. I did wait until the trans was completely bolted up before trying to push it up, is this whats wrong. it seems kinda loose when I push it in there, and it takes very little effort to pull it out., Am I supposed to go at an angle or something

I know it doesnt take much to pull it or push it in. I'm pretty sure though once you get the housing on it and the slave cylinder in there it won't pop out.

if you pushed it up before the tranny was completely installed you may of gotten it on the wrong side of the throw out bearing. That happened to me. I didn't pay attention to what position it was in when i installed the tranny and i got the fork on the wrong side. It took a lot of coaxing to get it back right.

That just happened to me....try pushing the fork (end of the fork you are touching) towards the front of the car before pushing it onto the bearing....I had the same problem and that got it a couple days ago.

the same thing happened to me but I don't remember what I did. But don't push too hard on the pedal with out it hooked up right or you shoot the hyd line out of the slave cylinder and crack it. That mistake cost me $50.
