Cant get any traction in first at WOT
Ok, i have 2.73, automatic, and these tires that are 5 years old. I cannot get any traction after 3500 rpm, and i ease onto the throttle!!! WTF is up, i thought 2.73's are hard to get to break loose? Do my five year old tires have anything to do with this?
get new tires. ET streets if you're really looking for traction. Also, even stock (pretty much) its pretty tough to go WOT for me. I know I have 3.23's, but thats what you get for getting a car with torque

How slick is the street? I have some streets I can barely help but to spin when I take off. You didn't mention how worn the tires are either.

I wouldn't get ET Streets for everyday street tires. They're really only good for the track and short drives on the street. If you get them, plan on buying a 12 bolt soon after.
I just got BFG drag radials this past weekend put on my car and I love them!
I previously had some Goodyear GSC's with 20,000 miles on them and they would not hook up at all in 1st(and I'm an M6). I'm gonna use the BFG's for everyday driving. They are one of the best investments I have put in my car. There is so much traction, but I can still light them up when I want to. I would look at some BFG's or Nitto's. Both will be great, but from what I hear the Nitto's last a little longer.
Like what was mentioned above try some Nitto or BFG drag radials, both are really good street/strip tires. Another choice could be the ET streets, but they are not the best everyday street tires, oh yeah dont worry about the rear breaking with the ET streets with your auto your going to need alot more HP along with a huge converter to crack the 7.5" rear
before you go and buy new tires try to run with 35 psi in the tires. my bald tires hooked great if the psi was correct. if i lowered the psi, it would not hook for anything. these were even some generic aqua tires. however, my car is all stock. with 60% tread left, those tires should be ok unless they are dry rotted. the tire pressure means a lot with any tire.
I just got Nitto DRs on my car a few days ago. WOW is all I can say. I finally can see what my car feels like wide open in 1st gear. At low RPMs if I get on it to hard they will still break loose a little, but once they warm up a little they just stick like crazy. Well, time for a new clutch..That now slips.

Actually its seems like in my experience in dry weather, older tires hook better. They become more like slicks, theres more rubber in contact with the road. The only reason theres a tread is for water siping.

Gears not set up right? There are numerous people running bolt on convertered cars leaving on sticky tires with no probs. I have never known somebody personally in an auto, SI, bolt car breaking 2 rears. Maybe its time to find somebody that knows how to set up gears.

My car is fairly stock and I broke the pinion gear on my first rear (3.23)and now my replacement (3.42) is making noises. Car has 42k miles. Both rears were as-is from the factory. First time I was running DRs. Rear didn't actually break at the track, it was while I was running down the 'bahn at 110. Thankfully, it didn't lock up. Oh yeah, if using BFG DRs, do not do a big burnout. Just enough to make a little haze. Anymore and the tires become "greasy" and will spin all the way down the 1/8th. Try about 17-21 psi with these.
