cant find my oil leak...

I just put a stroker motor in that I built into my '94 Z. I got most of the running problems solved, but I have this persistent oil leak that I cant seem to locate. I'm loosing a quart about every 35-40 miles if that. Oil leaks onto my headers and y-pipe and make s smoky mess. It's somewhere on the back of the engine towards the driver's side up high. I put in a new oil pressure sensor and replaced the o-ring on the oil cooler thinking that was the problem and it still leaks. The back of the engine feels dry.

I'm wondering if I might have forgotten that plug at the back of the engine on the drivers deck surface. Could that cause this kind of leak? I really dont want to pull a cylinder head just to check, but I can't figure out where this leak is coming from. It's leaking so bad, my spec III isn't grabbing nearly as well as it should and slips at WOT. Thanks in advance.

Re: cant find my oil leak...

I had the same leak last year - sucks bad. Found part of my problem recently, my timing cover was completely loose and I mean bolts 3/4 of the way out loose. That seems to have stopped the oil from blowing back onto the y-pipe (gasp) but I still have a drip out the front. I hate these seals in the timing cover - for whatever reason I cannot seem to get them fixed. I tore it apart 3 times last year replacing seals - not sure if i'm even going to worry about it now because it pisses me off so much. I guess you could say that i'm resigned to the fact that the POS is going to leak oil no matter how many times I replace the seals.

I wonder now - is it the FelPro oil pan gasket that I installed? Maybe it's not sealing to the bottom of the timing cover very well? Anyone else had this problem?

Check the intake seal. I had to pull my intake and reseal it after like 50 miles cause it was leaking really bad. Check the top of the bellhousing and see if theres any oil there.
