Can't find guide- help me replace my power window motor

I have looked for a guide on Brent's site, and also on Shoeboxes site, both are down. I have the door panel off and the rivets drilled out. What do I do from here!?!?!?

If you drilled out the rivets, there should be nothing holding up the window motor.

Is the glass propped up?

This page works for me:

It can be done, thats the way GM does it.
You did not have to pull the regulator though.
But I guess you know that now.

I know it's a bitch, but to be honest I'd pull the regulator next time anyway. Althought next time I will be more careful when I pull the motor off the regulator, cause that preload on it is a bitch, looks like when it lets go it could take a finger off

Anyway, this was my window motor to learn on, I had a guy from the body shop next door show me how to remove it, and then a mechanic stopped by(we were just hanging out after work) and I held the window and watched him put it together again. He even put rivets back in place of where they came out of

IMO, my method is way easier and you don't have to worry about hurting yourself with the spring.

Shoebox- is the link to your install page down, or did I click on a link that wasn't typed correctly? I got an error page when I tried to access it.

It's at the link posted above. The original page is apparently no longer there. I could never get an explanation why it died. You can always get it from the Tech Page link in my sig.

i have a question about my window motor... it's a new one and did the install.. and whatnot, but I don't recall seeing the spring in there that's in the pictures on shoebox's website.. also my window rattles when its only partway down and it doesn't seem like its lined up correctly when I try to close it.. Could this be because the spring is missing? Thanks.

If you did not remove the regulator, you would not see the spring. The spring assists in supporting the weight of the window. If it was missing, your window would probably go down real fast and then slower than normal going up.

You may need to adjust or replace the window stabilizers to fix your rattle. There is info on adjustments on my Tech Page.

When I did my window I cant remember if I did push it way up or down ... must likely all the way up though. But I had no trouble with the spring at all.

I found a solid area and drilled a hole all the way across both levers...secured them with a bolt through them so when I removed the motor I wasnt afraid of the spring taking a finger off or two.

I put the new motor back in and removed the bolt... and nothing flew out of place. Oh yeah the window was all the way up. I was able to bring it back up before the motor died completely.

Well I was feeling around back there and stuff and thought that I would notice something like that. But the thing is you say that it would slower than normal going up, well that is the case it takes the window like 2 more seconds than the passenger side and if I recall correctly it went up at the same speed before the motor started going bad also shoebox i just wanted to tell you that you are so the man and i wish i knew about this forum like over a year ago when I got the car
