Can't figure it out.
K guys help me out here. Rebuilding my motor so I'm using my beach car, a 97 Grand Cherokee. This is the problem.....Evrytime I start the car and begin to drive, the engine has a loss of power. It feels like it wants to go but something is holding it back. Then in a matter of seconds it goes and doesn't act up again until I turn off the motor, wait awhile then start it back up again.
I've changed plugs, wires, distributor rotar and cap, EGR valve. I've also checked the air filter and intake. I'm at a loss. I know one of you guys know just by looking at this.
Thanks a lot. Its the only car I have for another month til I finish the stroker.

It's funny that often the more you know about a system, you suspect the worst things when there is a problem.
To find a hot spot or air in the line, you would have to check pressure when running, when turned off and monitor pressure when the problem occurs. This would confirm the problem. Unfortunately the repair may take a little longer.
AFTER you confirm this is the problem. (May not be, we're only guessing you know.) Then contact a dealer to see if there have been service bulletins regarding this type of problem.
Also look for areas where the fuel line runs close to the pipes or manifold
As I mentioned before, check your tank vent for plugging and replace the fuel filter.
If you have a Throttle Body, I would suspect it. But only after I have eliminated everything else.

Slopoke...thanks for the advice man I appreciate it. As for the hot spot, I can illiminate that one because it usually happens right when I start the car, even when the car is cold. Gonna change the fuel filter when I have the chance, I work graveyard shift.
thanks again.
thanks again.
