can youy overtighten oul pan bolts?
soo i have the blue felpro oil pan gasket and i just got done installing it without any rtv silicone just like felpro says... i tightened the bolts to about as tight as i could get them and im wondering if its gonna cause any problems.... i know that felpro has those little spacers in there gaskets but what would happen if i crushed one of them? i really really dont want any oil leaks! think im ok or should i redo it?

Look at Shoebox's fastener guide. Side bolts are 106 pound-inch. That's less than 9 pound-foot.

i cant imagine why there is only a few people left that are willing to even post in your threads, at the rate your going you wont be getting any replies soon. you need to relax with the insults, you asked a stupid question and deserved a stupid answer. if you need someone to tell you that "as tight as you can go" is to freaking tight i cant image why you would be building your own motor
it was a joke, no need to insult anyone.

I sense the same frustration that many of you are feeling - but we can't turn this into a "dump on z28beast" thread. If you don't have a constructive contribution, please don't post. Eventually, if enough people stop posting, because they feel their info is not helpful or not being listened to, there will be no point in additional posts. At that point, the advice will be "seek the assistance of an experienced engine builder".
I think most people have shown a great amount of patience with this member. Let's not let it go down hill now.

I would suggest just getting the torque specs for LT1 engine bay and taping them to a wall in your garage or to side of toolbox. It seems a common thing of reference to me at least. This will help you when in doubt about specs. It seems sometimes you have to learn the hard way then you start to listen to do things right. Its the will to do a good job that brought you to the forum to learn, and that is the start to becoming better than what you are.
Some guys will chunk a joke in, but you have to laugh, or ignore. Even the most knowledgeable here can be an *** sometimes.
The felpro put the spacers in there so you dont crush the gasket. If you feel you overtightened them just back them off and go with the proper spec. If you have a leak, go from there.

Some bolts (like for the auto transmission oil pan) will be damaged/ruined (integrated cupped washers) if over-tightened. Others (water neck bolts come to mind) can snap off easily. So, it's best to know the spec, before you tighten them to heck.
