I hardly ever turn on my ac but don't really care for the thought of permanently removing the ac compressor. Can the compressor stay on the car and still be able to run the ac delete pulley? Might pick up a tiny bit of HP that way?

No sir, you must remove the compressor to use the pulley. Hence a/c DELETE pulley. The braket that the new pulley is attached to uses the 3 holes that the a/c uses. and I recommend getting a goodyear gator belt because the a/c delete pulley is a little smaller so it will loosen the belt just a tad. I would just leave the A/C system on the car, the only reason why I have a delete pulley, is because when i bought my car the A/C compressor was shot and it was cheaper to buy the delete pulley.

In Chicago.... I bet you could get away with no A/C.... here in Texas that's a no go.

 

When the AC is off, the compressor is not putting a load on the engine. Probably very little more than a delete pulley if at all. Combine an AC delete pully with open holes where the hoses connected to the evaporator and it just looks half done or half something else. Unless of course that couple of pounds weight reduction is worth a 5 second decrese and 96.327mph gain in the 1/4.

The compressor weighs a lot more than a couple pounds. Most people who remove the a/c compressor also remove the evaporator, condensor and the lines. It doesn't look unfinished at all, and removing those three things probably saves around 45 lbs. off the front of the car.

 

The problem with Chicago is the only 3*4 months of hot weather, is stupid hot and very humid. And I will be moving to Texas within 3*6 months...

Im in Jacksonville, FL and It gets insane hot and humid here from like middle may to the end of october. I've had my car since march of 2005, and I already went through one summer of no A/C and its not that bad, it really only sucks when it rains. Which in Florida in the summer is like everyday. I removed everything except for the box on the firewall, and it makes it a little easier to work on and it looks cleaner.

 

Be a man. A/C is for pussies. =P

 

I deleted mine just because it has never worked on my car. It doesnt give you any horsepower really, but it does save alot of weight in a VERY critical part of the car: The front end.

 

Texas, July, hell I would put 45 pounds of sweat in the carpet. Maybe just put the girl friend on a diet and keep the cool air?
