Can you remove the Intake Silencer?

It's 5:20 am and after searching for awhile I'm about to crash. All I've found is that you can but i'm only picking this up indirectly.

Can you do this, and if so what is involved? Just Pulling it off and plugging the hole?

Yes.

Pull it off and plug up the hole....my buddy found a shampoo cap that fit perfectly over the opening and he just taped it up.

Here's a link to a plug (scroll down to resonator delete plug):

If you elbow is in poor shape--the item above the plug is a 1LE Induction Elbow which comes without the hole for the resonator. If you buy the 1LE Elbow, do a search to find out the contact info on Jason Cromer--you'll get a better price.
