Can the oil pan be removed on an M6 in car?

Assuming we drop the tranny, can the whole pan be removed?

No need to drop the tranny, just undo the motor mounts and jack the motor up. Make sure you take out the sensor in the side of the pan. It breaks easily!!! Also, I took my intake elbob off just so I didnt stress the intake in any way. Probably unneccisary but it didnt hurt anything. Other than that, the 4 corner bolts on the pan are 1/2 and the remaining are 3/8's. Extensions and swivels help Good luck

where did you jack up the engine from? Most people go off the pan rail but you obviously can't do that on this. I've thought about doing this but someone said you have to lower the k-member too to get the pan out.

You should be able to do this in half a day. No need to remove the motor. But you do have to lower the k member. Get an engine hoist or chery picker and raise the engine till the top of the tranny hits the firewall. Then undo the k member bolts till there is only 2-3 threads left on them. Then you can get the oil pan out of there. You don't have to lower the k member on an A 4 car though. I did this a month ago with no problems.

Re: Can the oil pan be removed on an M6 in car?

this is how i did mine, it might not help but......i'll try. I did it on a lift which looks like you dont have.

Disconect brake lines from calipers
disconect upper boll joints
disconect steering shaft from firewall
Support the engine from the top with an engine support
set 3 jack stands right under the k member undo the 6 k member bolts
slowly lift the car up(there will be enogh slack on power steering lines to lift the car up about 6-8 inches or so as you lifting it up little by little make sure you not tearing **** up)
and thats about it
hope that helps i got mine done in 2 hours in and out
