Can OBDII be tricked into thinking an EGR and AIR pump exist?
Can OBDII be tricked into thinking an EGR and AIR pump exist?
Ok, here's the deal. Georgia has begun OBD emissions testing on all '96 and later vehicles. My issue is that I live in one of the 13 metro-Atlanta counties requiring emissions testing, and I have no EGR or AIR pump. I realize that this can be programmed out of OBDII, but when the GA emissions ****'s read my ECU, it will show a EGR and AIR "not ready" rather than show that I have a functioning EGR and AIR system. This will automatically fail me. Does anyone out there know of a method to make some sort of EGR and AIR sims, so the computer sees the input it needs to see, and I'll be off scott free? Otherwise, I'm screwed. I can't go back with an EGR valve b/c of my headers. I'll be forced to park the car indefinately. Any input would be wonderful. Thanks in advance.
What I am looking for is something like a plug in sim, like an o2 sim. If a ready-made unit is not available, hopefully some instructions on making one.

Ok heres the deal you have a 96 and OBD2 therefore what they do with a tune if the tuner knows what hes doing is sets these codes to X which will not give a not ready reading it simply will just make the emissions tester see that it is indeed working fine when acyually its not there. As long as you are having just the scan test and not the smog one. Send your pcm to Speed Inc and have them tune it out they are very popular for doing that for us IL guys
