can a machine shop do this?

yesterday i was torquing down the cam sprocket bolts when one of them broke off in the cam. none of the bolt is sticking out and i don't want to beat on the end of the cam with an easy our or something like that.

what i was wondering is if a machine shop would have a way to exctract the screw without damaging the cam?

thanks,
-jeff

Try a pick to see if you canmove it or a small center punch and tap it around, if you just twisted it off it should come back out pritty easy unless its cross threaded. Good Luck

Why do you need to tap the bolt to use an easy out? The ones I have used always specified a drill bit size that you were to use to get a hole going in the broken bolt. Once the hole is drilled, insert your easy out, rotate it counter-clockwise and the easy out should bite into the hole you have drilled.

Take it to a machine shop and have them get it out so you don't screw up the cam.

easy out's are a last resort, most people can't drill a hole straight or in the center witch then recks the thread.

streetrod93,
If you want you can send the cam to me and I'll take it out if you have'nt got it out yet.
