can IAT affect emission? i failed smog test

i got my car smog and i failed, the guy that smog my car told me that my SES light turns on, so i looked at the engine bay, and i noticed that i forgot to plug my IAT back. can this be the cause? he said i did not pass emission too, i will type all the details soon. my question is, will IAT make my emission higher thus i did not pass? thanks

here's a pic of IAT, thanks for shoebox's webpage

on a 93.. perhaps. anything newer then that not really. the only thing it does is slightly control timing advance based on temp....

I think you should look elsewhere

i replaced my o2's about 8000 miles ago....should i replace it again? a good friend of mine said that the most likely problem is the IAT, since i did not have it connected when the test was done....any other suggestions? thanks

Your iat being unplugged could have thrown your a/f ratio off a tad, so if you failed by just a little it could have an effect the next time.

Also make sure your car is nice and warm when you take it in, probably about halfway up the temp gauge if you can do it, a lot of things that hurt performance that are temp and fuel related can have a positive effect on emissions.

I hate emissions. I see cars on the road blowing smoke and making a stench, but they aren't because they're all modded out, it's because they're about to bite the dust...
