Can I use an LS1 clutch with an LT1?

I have a new SLP flywheel I'd like to mate up to a used LT1 or LS1 clutch if it will work.

Does anyone know if the LS1 clutch is backwards compatible?

TIA,

TIA,
Not sure what backwards compatible means but either way an LS1 disc is not compatible with an LT1 flywheel.

Ok, thanks. Sorry bout the computer lingo. BW compatible just means that the newer technology (LS1 in this case) would be compatible with the older technology (LT1) Thus, being compatible with something before it's time. That's all.

Thanks for the info. though.

i dont think you will be able to make it work....

the LT1 is a pull style clutch. meaning the clutch fork pulls out on the pressure plate.

the LS1 is a push style. the slave cylinder is mounted to the transmission around the input shaft, and pushes on the pressure plate.

If someone had some measurements I wonder if it could be done somehow!?!? All you need is enough space between the tranny, the end of the fingers on the PP and a place to mount the hydrolic bearing. Of course you need to go back to the older "normal" style PP`s. I wonder if anyone has spent the time looking into this? I dont know why GM did it on the 5-speed but threw a totaly f***ed up design in the LT1 !?!?!?!?
