Can I use Comp BBC 1.7 ratio rockers...

...if I convert to 7/16" studs? Do I need a different OD spring, or will a standard set of 987's or Isky's work?

I'm referring to CC Part#'s 1411-16(Magnum) and/or 1320-16(Pro-Mag)

I'm budget limited at the moment plus I'd like to prolong having to tear apart the front of my motor for a bit longer. Currently I'm stock cammed with 1.6's. Am I wasting my time with stock heads? TIA

Why a BBC rocker when you can use a SBC 1.7 ratio rocker like a Crower?

Yes, you can run one once going to a 7/16 stud.

No, won't have an effect on the valvespring OD required. The 987's will work as will any other brand that's correct for the spring pocket diameter being used.

Many bolt on nuts use those rockes, but valve cover clearance has to be a issue. I would use a 7/16 stud no matter what, its one of the mistakes I made . Standard spring should work but should have higher lift capability. I would just get 1.6s/ crane springs 10308 (I think) and then your ready for cam anyway. 1.7s also would give more false knock. Rocker will help in any head.

Thanks for the quick replies.

7/16" studs are a definite, as are new springs. I half assed it the first time around and I'm lucky not to have broken anything so far. I'm not a redline nut like some, I prefer the 3500-5200 range when I'm driving "hard" so midrange is what I'm after mostly. My limited understanding of cam dynamics says that short duration with higher lift (ie: what I would get off the stock cam with lots of rocker ratio) will net me the midrange power that I want.

That being said, what vendors are offering Crower products currently?
