Can I run 24# injectors in my 93Z.
Can I run 24# injectors in my 93Z.
I bought some injectors as spares because I suspected one or more was leaking. What I didn't do was my homework on flow rates in different years. I93's have run 22# injectors and 94-97 run 24#'s.
My question is can I run all of the 24# injectors in my 93 with a stock tune?
At the moment, I have one 24# in place of the leaky one and doesn't quite idle right. Trying to track down the stumble everyone seems to have.
If I can't I will be having some injectors for sale....

Re: Can I run 24# injectors in my 93Z.
If you put a complete set in, there's a good possibility the PCM can use the long term fuel corrections to adjust for the 10% increase in flow rate. But if your PCM is already using the long terms to cut fuel for some other reason, its going to run into the wall when the long terms hit 108 and can't go any farther. Have your chip burned for th new flow rate and you will have no problems at all.
Using a single 24# injector is probably the worst thing you could do.... its throwing off the whole bank of the engine that its located in. The exhaust from the rich condition in one cylinder is mixing with the (hopefully) correct mixture from the other 3 cylinders and throwing the A/F ratio off on the entire bank. At WOT, that one cylinder will be running rich.

Thanks Injuneer, I realized I had a 24# injector after I started it up and test drove it. Then I confirmed it with a part #. As I said, I bought these off of a board member for a quick fix until I drop some cash for a new set and I thought that my stock flowrate was 24#'s.
So basically, buy a new 22# injector and save the cash for a new set, right.
