Can I bypass the low coolant sensor?
Can I bypass the low coolant sensor?
In about a month I am going to swap the motor and everything out to my 1st gen. In the mean time I am tired of the low coolant light coming on. Can someone tell me if I can unplug the sensor and use a resistor or something to bypass it for now?
no the light will go off if you unplug it,mine was on, so I took the sensor out and cleaned it( had grime in it, or something) I just wiped it clean , and put it back in and pluged it back up,and the light did not come back on for a few weeks, I guess I need to flush the system , the sensor get's dirty and the light comes on, but I have'nt flushed it yet, mine is still unpluged for now

I never understand this question. Why would you do this? You can blow a head gasket, or ruin your engine, or both if the coolant happens to really be low one day.
How can it bother you that much, it' not like it's a blinding light, or a lound alarm. I would say just ignore it, but that could end up with the same result. Anyways , to each his own, but again you should try cleaning it, which works for a number of people, or get a new one. I don't think they cost that much. I have seen lt1 engine need a rebuild, and have to have the heads surfaced for ignoring that light, much less disconecting it.
